I’d recognize those legs anywhere. These are worn by the very lovely and impressive Aimee Mullins. She is an American sprinter,long jumper and motivational speaker. She was born without fibulas in both her legs and they were consequently amputated when she was a very young child.
If you’ve never watched her TED Talk about her legs, I suggest you do so right now. She is an amazing and compelling speaker. She makes you think about how you behave around “disabled” people. Shame on most of us, though, clearly, it is a learned behavior.
(And additionally… the legs are carved from solid ash.)
